On May 16th, the Pittsburgh Yards community was excited and proud as Close Ties, a Pittsburgh Yards-based organization, hosted its Close Ties Trailblazing Ceremony. This event marked a significant milestone in their community’s journey toward empowerment and upliftment. Close Ties orchestrated a heartwarming celebration dedicated to honoring and supporting the aspirations of Black boys in our midst.


The Close Ties Leadership Program is a beacon of hope and opportunity for young Black boys, offering them early exposure to collegiate and career pathways, invaluable mentorship, and unwavering social-emotional support. With a steadfast commitment to nurturing traits of brotherhood, leadership, altruism, chivalry, and knowledge, Close Ties empowers these young minds to realize their full potential and become catalysts for positive change in their communities.


The Trailblazing Ceremony was a testament to Close Ties’ transformative impact. It brought together mentors, supporters, and the wider community to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of these remarkable young individuals. Amidst an atmosphere of camaraderie and pride, attendees witnessed the profound impact of mentorship and community support in shaping the futures of our youth.
