Atlanta Beltline Paves A Path Towards a Healthier Future
Atlanta – 2/19/26 World Resources Institute
This piece from the World Resources Institute highlights how the Atlanta Beltline is creating real opportunity for people and small businesses along the corridor — not in theory, but in practice.
– One of the voices featured is Makeisha Robey, founder of The Happy Black Parent and a Pittsburgh neighborhood resident. Makeisha leads the Pittsburgh Community Market at Pittsburgh Yards and collaborates annually with the Atlanta Beltline on the Kids Lantern Parade, bringing families, creativity, and community together right here on site. Her insight in the article speaks to how visibility and proximity matter, especially for families, and small businesses working with limited marketing budgets.
– That same impact is reflected in the Atlanta Beltline Marketplace Program also now based in the Container Courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards (four locations). Marketplace alumni Pink Pothos ATL and Atlanta Bicycle Rentals helped pave the way. Current Marketplace businesses include Carrot Dog, Coffyn Pyes, The Creamy Spot, Ideal Barbers. Tony Pope, founder of Atelier 7, is also a Beltline Business Ventures graduate and now operates at Pittsburgh Yards and soon in the Container Courtyard.
This is what it looks like when place, people, and opportunity align, and when small businesses are supported where life is actually happening.
