Atlanta Beltline Marketplace returns with more small businesses in coming months
From Atlanta Business Chronicle
A program designed to give small, local businesses a chance to occupy some of the most expensive retail real estate in Atlanta will more than double in size.
For its second iteration, Atlanta Beltline Marketplace will add two new locations, at the Pittsburgh Yards Container Courtyard on the Southside Trail and along Krog Street on the Eastside Trail. These join previously used locations that are under the Freedom Parkway bridge on the Eastside Trail and on Allene Avenue on the Westside Trail.
With the new locations, the Beltline Marketplace will grow from six to 14 retail spaces.
ABI partnered with small business accelerator The Village Market to launch Beltline Marketplace in 2022, creating affordable commercial spaces in repurposed shipping containers and food trucks. Some of the businesses included in the program’s initial run, which paid just $250 per month in rent, went on to major expansions.
Atlanta Beltline Inc. is working through permitting for the four locations, and businesses will open on a rolling basis in the coming months, Kara Lively, ABI’s director of economic development, told Atlanta Business Chronicle through a spokesperson.
ABI on March 10 submitted building permit applications to the city for four of the fourteen businesses that will open in the program’s second cycle. They will occupy spaces next to Lingering Shade and Irwin Street Market along Krog Street.
